These and other rural development leaders will address members of the seven-state Mississippi Delta Compact, who are gathering to develop an organization plan and action agenda for implementing key economic development initiatives in the region.

WHY:
There is an urgent need to fashion a holistic, rural development plan that will strike at the root causes of the region's endemic poverty and need for better jobs, housing, schools, health facilities and general rural infrastructure.
