USDA APPOINTS BRYAN DANIEL TO HEAD RURAL DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS IN TEXAS
WASHINGTON, July 20, 2001-- The U.S. Department of Agriculture today appointed R. Bryan Daniel as the Texas State Director for USDA Rural Development.
Daniel, from Jarrell, Texas, is the Assistant Executive Director of the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board. His responsibilities include coordinating the Board's work with the Office of the Governor of Texas, Texas Legislature, other Texas executive branch agencies, and the community. Daniel also has served as a professional staff member to U.S. House of Representatives' Agriculture Committee Chairman Larry Combest. His responsibilities included working on appropriation, specialty crops, and agricultural labor legislation. Between 1996-1999, Daniel was special projects director for the National Council for Agricultural Education where he directed the program of work for a $1.5 million national intitiative designed to strengthen school-based agricultural education of students nationwide.
Daniel graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural communications and a Master of Science degree in agricultural education. He served on the Advisory committee for the Texas Tech Agricultural Literacy Initiative and the Promotions working Group of the Texas Agribusiness Research Promotion Council. Daniel has delivered more than 250 presentations to professional agricultural, education, community, and youth organizations. He also has had several articles published in professional journals.
USDA Rural Development serves as the lead federal entity for rural development needs, and administers program assistance through three agencies: Rural Housing Service, Rural Business - Cooperative Service, and Rural Utilities Service.
