USDA NAMES JAMES E. SELMON AS ASSOCIATE ADMINISTRATOR FOR RURAL HOUSING SERVICE
WASHINGTON, September 13, 2002- Under Secretary for USDA Rural Development Thomas C. Dorr today announced the selection of James E. Selmon, III as Associate Administrator for Rural Housing Service (RHS).
Selmon, of Houston, Texas, most recently has been executive vice president of DATA COM where he coordinated marketing and sales of computer products and services and supervised managers and account executives. DATA COM is a woman-owned computer business which has received Congressional recognition and was named Houstons Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies for five consecutive years. Selmon has also worked as an assistant manager at The Riggs National Bank of Washington, D.C., providing quality control on existing accounts and customer service for new accounts. He served as a volunteer on behalf of the bank on several community projects in the D.C. metropolitan area.
During his time in Houston he has been active in community service as a volunteer delivering meals to the homeless and sheltered women through The Bless One Inc. of Houston. He has also received an Outstanding Service Award from D.C. General Hospital for his volunteer contributions while in Washington. As a member of KAPPA ALPHA PSI Fraternity he has spent the last ten years dedicating his volunteer services helping provide direction and support to youths in the Houston and Washington, D.C. areas.
Selmon was born and raised in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area and received his Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Hampton University in Virginia.
