DORR TO HELP MARYLAND FAMILY BUILD HOME

     EMMITSBURG, Md., June 20, 2003--Agriculture Under Secretary for Rural Development Thomas C. Dorr will give remarks and join USDA State Director Marlene Elliott to assist a local family in building their new home financed by USDA Rural Development. Dorr and Elliott will raise the first wall on the family's new home located in Flat Run, a new addition being built onto the Silo Hill community.

What:

National Homeownership Month event to bring attention to the value of homeownership through USDA's self-help housing program.

10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2003.

Where:

Flat Run, Silo Hill Road, Emmitsburg, Md.
From Washington, D.C.:  270 North to Frederick, becoming 15 North (45 miles approximately to Frederick). 15 North to Route 140 Exit (20-25 miles north of Frederick) - Turn left at end of exit ramp onto Route 140 West - Route 140 West to right turn on to Silo Hill Road (McDonald's on right) - Silo Hill Road to construction site on left, northern cul-de-sac.

From Baltimore, Maryland:  70 West to Frederick, exit onto 15 North (45 miles approximately to Frederick), follow above directions from 15 North.
