Anthony, New Mexico -- $970,093

     Anthony, New Mexico will receive $970,093 in loan and grant funds to redirect the method of disposal of their effluent. The Anthony Water and Sanitation District will tie into an existing line to discharge effluent. Additionally, a small effluent lift station will be installed to help push effluent through the wastewater system.

Bayard, New Mexico -- $1,007,077

     Bayard, New Mexico will receive $1,007,077 to purchase potable water well to provide supplemental water to the community. The purchase is necessary because recent extended drought conditions have steadily lowered the water table. The funding will also pay for maintenance and replacement of some water lines due to the poor condition of the pipes, which in turn cause service interruptions and water losses.

     The proposed project will also replace and rehabilitate portions of the wastewater collection system. Phase I of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems improvements include replacement, rehabilitation and relocation of portions of the existing water distribution and wastewater collection systems, as the existing sewer system is antiquated and the water system is deteriorating. Additional improvements to the system will be done in further phases as funding becomes available.

Chaparral, New Mexico -- $1,663,426

     Chaparral, New Mexico will receive $1,663,426 for the first phase of construction of a Wastewater Collection and Treatment Facility Plant. The construction will include a gravity sewer collection system with lift stations, a three million gallon per day treatment plant, a surface irrigation disposal facility, and related equipment. Additional phases will add a collection system and plant capacity as more funding becomes available.

Columbus, New Mexico -- $2,764,623

     Columbus, New Mexico will receive $2,764,623 for three water and wastewater projects. Funds in the amount of $601,096 will pay for the first phase for a new water system including a reverse osmosis water treatment system, a new 3000 gallon per minute water supply well, a new 400,000 gallon storage tank, fire system capacity improvements, pipeline replacements, new discharge pipelines, and related equipment. Additional phases will upgrade and replace old portions of the water system. The remaining $2,400,560 will be used for two wastewater projects, including construction of three synthetically lined aerated lagoons, ponds, and a synthetically lined free water surface wetland. The treated effluent will be pumped to an adjacent area for flood irrigation of alfalfa. The proposed wastewater collection system improvements will provide an effective and sanitary means of disposing and treating sewage. Current disposal methods in the area do not meet New Mexico Environment Department standards.

Lordsburg, New Mexico -- $737,134

     Lordsburg, New Mexico will receive $737,134 to pay for the first phase of a new water system for the community. The new system includes installation of 750 linear feet of new 4-inch PVC transmission lines along Highway 103. The funding will also pay for the construction of a well house, a 60,000 gallon storage tank and three booster pumps. In addition, 3,000 linear feet of 6-inch PVC pipe and fire hydrants will be installed in the most populated areas to provide fire protection.

     The funds will also allow Lordsburg to reduce the level of fluoride in the community drinking water to acceptable levels. Funds will be used to purchase a treatment unit that should be capable of lowering fluoride levels to required standards over a 20-year period.
