Homeownership Month 2004: Fayette County, Ohio

Her poster is a family, house and yard drawn with markersHousing Assistance Council Executive Director Moises Loza, National Self-Help Housing Poster Contest Winner Tessa Grooms and Rural Development Acting Under Secretary Gilbert Gonzalez celebrate Tessa’s winning entry during an Ohio home ownership event. Under Secretary Gonzalez was in Ohio to recognize the committment of the Fayette County Community Action Commission and their efforts to make affordable housing available to rural residents. Fayette County has completed 120 homes using the Self-Help Program. Secretary Gonzalez presented the Fayette County Community Action Commission with a $550,000 grant which will be used to help build 30 new homes in the Arbor Village Subdivision located in Washington Court House, Ohio.

Groundbreaking for a new multi-family housing addition in Fayette County, OhioOhio Developer Jeff Woda, President of The Woda Group, Jennette Bradley, Ohio’s Lieutenant Governor, Bambi Baughn, Deputy Director of the Community Action Commission of Fayette County, Randy Hunt, Rural Development State Director and Gilbert Gonzalez, Acting Under Secretary for Rural Development, break ground on a new Section 538 multi-family housing addition. The ground breaking was part of the Self-Help Housing Day celebration.
