Outline of Need:
Angela Toffry needed a place to call her own, a place to raise her 2-year old daughter Kaitlyn, a place that she could begin a new life. Angela divorced her husband in 1998 and moved back home to rent her parent's beach house.
How Rural Development Helped:
Angela, 30, has started her new life in a little Eastern Shore Maryland Town called Pittsville. It's a place where she discovered an affordable home after about a year's worth of searching. Angela said that she learned about the USDA Rural Development homeownership program (click here to learn more about this and other programs) from a friend in Delaware who got a loan through Rural Development's Georgetown , DE office. Learning about her friend's success she was optimistic that she too could own her own home.
The Results:
Angela Toffry has dedicated her life to helping others -- she works as a 911 Emergency Dispatcher for Worcester County Emergency Services and is an Associate Member with the Bishopville Volunteer Fire Department. The time had come for Angela to help herself….to pursue her dream….a dream that involved owning her own home and providing a secure place for her 2-year old daughter to grow. On May 25, 2005 , Angela, Kaitlyn and Winston, the family pet -- a 7-year old energetic boxer, moved into a 1,100 s.f. rancher nestled in a country setting. The home is decorated in a country theme and has 3 bedrooms, spacious kitchen and outside deck with plenty of lawn for the family to play. The decorated mailbox that sits at the end of her driveway signifies an achievement of a life long dream. Angela's mother, Lorraine , is proud of her daughter's accomplishments as the family has dealt with many difficulties including the battle with cancer that Angela's brother has endured since 1999.
Angela is delighted with her new home, the neighborhood she lives in, and the relationship she created with Rural Development. Her next dream --- to join the Pittsville Volunteer Fire Department!
