Outline of Need:
Several multi-family housing units in Missouri were in need of necessary structural repairs and energy conservation improvements.
How Rural Development Helped:
Through outreach efforts, such as newsletters and personal contact, local and area offices in Missouri informed communities and borrowers of the availability of grants from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, through the bank's Affordable Housing Program. Missouri employees assisted applicants with grant writing and a total of $324,690 has been distributed in Missouri to date, to a total of seven rental housing units. The watchful eye and enthusiasm of Rural Development employees helped to make this possible.
The Results:
The quality of life is vastly improved for the residents of these units, the government's security is being protected, and -- most importantly -- Missouri Rural Development employees have the satisfaction of knowing that they have made a difference.
