Success Stories: Future is Brighter - Thanks To Rural Development

Outline of Need:

Perryville, located in Southeast Missouri, is the county seat of Perry County, Missouri, a friendly rural community with a strong industrial base providing steady employment and enjoyable living conditions. However economic conditions for the agricultural community, as in most rural areas, needs some stimulation.

How Rural Development Helped:

Perry County IDA members holding the ceremonial check from Rural DevelopmentThe Perry County Industrial Development Authority (IDA), is receiving $24,600 from USDA Rural Development for a Rural Business Opportunity Grant (RBOG). Funds will be used for a feasibility study to determine how a farmer’s cooperative can build and operate a strawboard plant in Perry County.

The Results:

This was a collaborative effort of a group of concerned farmers, business people, county, state and federal persons concerned about the quality of life and the future of their children. With the results of the feasibility study the citizens of this community can better plan for the future.
