Outline of Need:
The Stars and Stripes Museum/Library is the home of the Stars and Stripes newspaper. First published during the civil war, over the last 139 years, millions of copies of The Stars and Stripes have been distributed throughout the world. The museum/library serves historians, students and writers, as well as the general public, and they were running out of room. The museum was able to raise sufficient funds to build a new building, but lacked the capital to finish the interior.
How Rural Development Helped:
The expansion program at the Stars and Stripes Museum in Bloomfield was the recipient of a grant from USDA Rural Development.
The Results:
The museum/library will have increased climate-controlled storage, accessibility for persons with disabilities, additional display area, and meeting rooms that will be invaluable for research. It is anticipated the expansion will create ten new jobs at the historical facility.
