Business : Provided nearly 19,000 grants and loans to assist approximately 75,000 rural small businesses in creating or saving 377,000 jobs. Used $1.4 billion in government funds to provide nearly $7 billion in loans and grants to help rural businesses expand, grow and innovate.
Community Facilities: Invested in nearly 8,000 critical community facilities projects, reaching over 30 million rural residents, including 947 education facilities, 481 libraries, 1,082 health care facilities, and 3,444 public safety facilities.
Housing: Helped 627,000 rural families in more than 21,000 communities buy, repair or refinance a home, and provided funding for more than 1,000 multifamily housing developments.
Broadband: Invested in new and improved broadband service to nearly seven million rural residents, 364,000 rural businesses, and 32,000 community facilities, saving or creating over 25,000 jobs while expanding access to state-of-the-art health care, educational and cultural resources and providing the opportunity for local businesses to compete in the global economy.
Electric: Helped improve and modernize rural electric infrastructure for over 25 million rural residents and businesses with funding for more than 90,000 miles of electric line. Also invested in renewable energy, smart grid technology and air quality improvement technologies.
Water: Provided more than 6,700 loans and grants for water and waste water community infrastructure projects to help safeguard the health of 20 million rural residents and create or save 150,000 jobs.
Distance Learning / Telemedicine: Invested in more than 5,500 distance learning and telemedicine opportunities, improving the availability of quality health care and educational in rural America.
Energy: Invested $800 million in bio-refineries, renewable energy and energy efficiency; funded projects in all 50 states, supporting 5,733 renewable energy and energy efficiency projects nationwide; generated or saved enough power to meet the annual needs of 600,000 households; and provided $192 million in grants and $165 million in loan guarantees to agricultural producers and rural small business owners for renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements.
