Keith Head, Rural Utilities Services Director

Rural Development financed the construction of a new water treatment plant in Pleasant View. RUS Director, Keith Head (right) meets with the Pleasant View Utility District Manager, John Anthony.

The development of modern public utility systems has always been difficult for rural communities. Today in Tennessee the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) is assisting communities across the state with  vital services such as water, sewer,  gas and electric infrastructures.

Water & Waste Disposal Loans & Grants

Qualifying communities are eligible for loans and grants which can be used to construct or improve water and waste water disposal systems.  Grants may not exceed 75% of eligible project costs, with the amount of the grant determined by median household income of the service area, need and if health or sanitary problems exist. The Rural Utilities Service can also guarantee loans made by private financial instituations to qualifying communities.
