Welcome To TEXAS USDA Rural Development
My fellow rural Texans: Welcome to the Texas USDA Rural Development website. I hope that you find the site informative and a useful tool when determining how best the Agency can assist with providing you or your organization with rural economic and community development financial assistance. Please know that we stand ready to work with you and to think creatively to develop and foster partnerships on a local or regional basis that will allow the Agency to deliver our programs in a more efficient manner. We must listen to our rural customers and meet their needs in an effort to achieve sustainable community development. USDA Rural Development has many authorities at its disposal to literally build a small rural town from the ground up. There are few, if any, other agencies in the Federal government that have such authorities. While we will continue to deliver our core programs through housing, business, essential community facilities and utilities, you will see special emphasis on broadband development, renewable energy, community based food markets and on adding value to our agricultural producer’s commodities. President Obama’s and Secretary Vilsack’s vision, which I fully endorse, is the implementation of initiatives that emphasize expanding exports, linking farm production to local consumption, producing biofuels and renewable energy, capitalizing on broadband, and innovatively using natural resources as wealth building tools for a stronger more prosperous rural America. You can be assured Texas USDA Rural Development, through its 25 field offices, stands ready to meet the challenges before us, especially during these uncertain economic times as we move further into the 21st century, to help create and retain jobs and promote economic growth in this great state. In addition, as your State Director, I will always be available to garner state and local collaborations and leverage resources to better serve our rural constituents in meeting their community development needs. Thank you for considering USDA Rural Development. Sincerely, Paco Valentin Texas State Director
