Rural Housing and
Community Facility Programs

Community Facility programs are administered through the Community Facilities/Multi-Family Housing division of the Rural Housing Service (RHS). The Community Facilities program is in place to aid rural communities in obtaining funding for community-related projects. The Rural Housing Service (RHS) provides the opportunity for many low-income persons to obtain desirable housing or repair their current home to make it more livable.  President Bush's Five Star Commitment to Expand Rural Minority Homeownership plan includes lowering fees to reduce barriers to minority homeownership, doubling the number of Self-Help participants by 2010, increasing participation of minority lenders through outreach, promoting credit counseling and homeownership education, and monitoring lending activities to ensure a 10 percent increase.
