On October 3, 2009, Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack made a national announcement that over $27 billion dollars in Stimulus Assistance (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009) has been provided by USDA.

Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack and Secretary of Energy Steven Chu made a stop in Southern Virginia on July 18, 2009.  An open forum was held for local rural residents to discuss the efforts of the Administration to rebuild and revitalize rural America .
