Rural Business-Cooperative
staff of the Virginia State Office administers the following programs. For

Business and Industry
Guaranteed Loan
|
Provides guarantees to eligible lenders for construction, equipment purchases
and working capital loans to rural businesses.

Intermediary Relending
Program
|
Provides 1% interest rate loans to intermediaries which relends these
monies to rural businesses.

Rural Business
Enterprise Grants and Television
Demonstration
Grants
|
Provides grants to public bodies and non-profit corporations for the purpose of
providing financial or technical assistance to small emerging privately-owned
businesses.

Cooperative Services
|
Provides technical and limited financial assistance to rural cooperatives and
similarly organized businesses.
|
Rural Economic Development
Loan and Grant
|
Provides zero-interest loans and grants to eligible rural electric and telephone
cooperatives for the purpose of financing rural community facilities and
business development.

Rural Business Opportunity
Grant
|
Provides funds to municipalities and non-profit corporations for the purpose of
providing technical assistance, training, and planning activities that improve
economic conditions in rural areas.

Value Added Producer Grant
|
Provides matching grants to agriculture producers and producer groups to be
utilized for planning or working capital.
|
Renewable Energy Systems and
Energy Efficiency Improvements Grant and Loan Program
|
Provides grants for 25% of the eligible cost (up to $500,000) for renewable
energy systems or energy efficiency projects. Also, loan guarantees are
provided for up to 50% of eligible project costs. Loan guarantees are
limited to $10 million. Eligible applicants are limited
to agricultural producers and rural businesses.
