SINGLE FAMILY HOUSING GUARANTEED LOAN PROGRAM |
|
|
In
the Guaranteed Loan Program, Rural Development (RD) guarantees loans made by
local lenders. (A loan guarantee through RD means that, should the individual
borrower default on the loan, RD will pay the bank the balance due on the
loan.) The individual works with the private lender and makes payments to
that lender. The borrower pays a fee of 3.5% of the loan amount for this
guarantee. Under
the terms of the program, an individual or family may borrow up to 100% of
the appraised value of the home, which eliminates the need for a down
payment. See
USDA Rural
Development Single Family Housing National website for additional
details. |
