Rural Development (RD) sells homes that have come into our possession through foreclosure or other types of property settlement.

  • Who can buy an RD home?
  • Answer:  Anyone.  If you have the cash or qualify for a mortgage, you can buy an RD home.
  • Are RD homes meant for people with low incomes?
  • Answer:  Some homes are reserved for the first 60 days to income eligible clients. (see chart).  100% financing is available.  Others are sold to anyone who can afford to purchase them.
  • If the RD home needs repairs, will RD make them?
  • Answer:  RD homes are sold "as is" without warranty.  If a home is sold with RD financing to an eligible client, additional funds may be available to repair home deficiencies.  A professional home inspection is part of the application process.

  • New Hampshire – How can I buy an RD home or find out what RD homes are for sale?
  • Answer:  Request a list of available properties from USDA Rural Development, Concord Center, Suite 218, Box 317, 10 Ferry Street, Concord, NH  03301-5004 or call (603) 223-6035.  You may also contact a local HomeOwnership Specialist in the area you are interested in and view the homes for sale.
  • How do I make an offer?
  • Answer:  Some properties are financed by RD.  The RD Homeownership Specialist will assist you in processing a loan to purchase the home.  Other properties are available to those who can get their own financing.  In those cases, a 10% non-refundable deposit is required.  In most cases, only full price offers can be accepted.
