Repair Loans and Grants are low interest home improvement loans and grants designed for very low income individuals (50% or less of county median income). Funding can be used for making repairs, installing essential features, or to remove health and safety hazards.

Program Details

Eligibility:

Successful applicant must be a rural resident or living in a town with a population of up to 10,000 (selected communities with populations of 10,000 - 20,000 are also eligible) and be within the designated income levels. In order to be eligible for grants, the applicant must be at least 62 years old and be unable to repay the loan.

Funding:

Funding is based upon annual appropriations. The maximum loan limit at one time is $20,000. The lifetime maximum grant limit is $7,500.

Terms:

Maximum loan term of 20 years. Grants require a 3 year grant agreement.

Interest:

Interest rate is 1% A.P.R. on loans.

Credit:

Reasonable credit history.

Collateral:

Mortage is required on loans of $7,500 or more.
